Leonetti, Vincent L Sr., - 78, of Ventnor, passed away on Sunday, April 1st 2018. Vince was the former Executive Director of the South Jersey Transportation Authority, formerly known as The New Jersey Expressway Authority. Upon his retirement he began his own transportation consulting enterprise and served until his death as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Transportation Management Consultants, LLC. While employed at the SJ Transportation Authority, Vince was elected President of the International Bridge, Tunnel and Turnpike Association, serving his employer and industry with honor and distinction. Vince was accomplished in his professional career and associations having served the City of Absecon as Chairman of the Planning Board for eleven years and the City of Ventnor as Vice Chairman of its Planning Board for many years. He served the Atlantic County Utilities Authority as a Commissioner for nine years. He was a charter member and past President of the Galloway Township Lions Club and a past President of the Shore Mall Merchants Association. Vince was born in Atlantic City on May 20, 1939, the son of Vincent L. and Helen (Peterson) Leonetti, who have predeceased him. He was a proud graduate of the West Philadelphia Catholic High School and was inducted as a member of its Sports Hall of Fame in 2010. At West Catholic, he excelled in track and football and continued his athletic career in track at LaSalle College from which he graduated in 1962. He thereafter earned his Master's and Business Degree from Central Michigan University. He was also a long standing member of the Margate Volleyball League. Vince was a charter member and fourth degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council #6342 serving Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Absecon, where he resided for many years and where he and his wife, Bitsy, raised their family. Vince loved life, his faith, his family and his friends above all else. He brought to his life's experiences a unique warmth and interest which caused his friends to consistently benefit from his wise counsel, willing assistance, gracious personality and great loyalty. Vince is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart, Marie (Bitsy) Barr Leonetti. Vince and Marie were the proud parents of Dawn M. Burton (Michael), Vincent, Jr. (Jayne) and Nicole Driscoll (Daniel) and their eight grandchildren, Bonnie, Jack, and Evan Burton, Luke and Livia Leonetti and Delany, Tanner, and Paige Driscoll, all of whom survive him and will treasure his memory. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday April 5th, (today) 11am, at Saint Vincent de Paul Church, 5021 Harding Highway in Mays Landing where visitation will begin at 9:30am.
